Joe Waide

Lodge of Sorrow
Joe Waide 2023

Fred Yeatts

On Thursday, May 25, 2023, Joe Stephen Waide, 71, of Sanger, slipped from this life, surrounded by his family praying over him.

Joe was born on January 24, 1952, to James Jackson Waide and Betty Orine (Sullivan) Waide. He was a 1970 graduate of Sanger High School and attended various trade schools.

On June 20, 1986, Joe married his true love, Nancy Lynn Sims, in Denton, Texas. They made their home in Sanger, where they raised their two boys, Stephen and Justin. They were together for 37 wonderful years!

In the 1990s, Joe worked with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office Reserves. Additionally, Joe was a test technician for Peterbilt Motors until his retirement following twenty-five years of service. Joe was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite and a 3rd-degree Mason in the Bolivar Masonic Lodge #418 and served as Worshipful Master 1989-1990.

Joe was a “Dodge Man.” He thought that Dodge was the only truck on the road. An avid outdoorsman, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on the Waide Ranch land, and visiting Colorado with his family each year. Joe loved his wife and family fiercely. He also loved his Lord and Savior and knew where he was going when he drew his last breath.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rhonda Waide. Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy of Sanger; two sons, Stephen Gregory Waide and wife Liz of Tucson, AZ, and Taylor Justin Waide and wife Stephanie of Sanger; one sister, Tonia Waide Lynch and husband Don of Denton; three grandchildren Chyler Waide, Logan Waide and Jackson Waide all of Tucson, AZ. Nephews, Josh Prator, and his wife, Dava of Sanger, DJ Lynch of Denton, Brandon Lynch of VA, and Mike Normile of Flower Mound. One niece, Courtney Lynch of Fort Worth, also survives him.
